The ARMA-Boston Chapter was
established in 1961 to promote and advance Records and Information
Management (RIM) in the Boston area. Today our membership stands at more
than 200 RIM professionals in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode
Island and Maine.
Records and information management is the systematic process of controlling
the creation, use, maintenance; protection and destruction of all types of
recorded information. The professionals in this field are responsible for
ensuring their companies or organizations have the proper information to
support their daily activities, to meet legal requirements and to document
their history. The rapid growth of technology has transformed RIM from a
field that concentrated primarily on the use and protection of paper and
microfilm-based records to one that is highly involved in controlling and
maintaining electronic information.
Information is the life-blood of any company or organization. Records and
information managers know where the information is and how to ensure that it
will be available when the company needs it.
We are part of
ARMA
International, an organization of over 10,000
professionals in the RIM. We're dedicated to helping individuals,
organizations and governments successfully meet the challenges of the
increasingly complex records and information management field.
ARMA-Boston provides its members with many exciting benefits, including
continuing education, technical publications, networking opportunities and
guidance towards the
CRM (Certified Records Manager) designation. Our
monthly chapter meetings feature quality speakers, and provide opportunities
for networking with experienced information management professionals.
Workshops and seminars provide in-depth training on timely topics.
In addition, our Chapter
contributes to the community through volunteer projects, internships and
scholarships.
