The following was revised by the Joint Haas Scholarship Committee in June 1997

  Establishment and History:
A committee was established in 1988 by the Boston Chapter of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) and by the New England Archivists (NEA). Rick Haas had served as a member and an officer of both organizations. Each organization made a monetary contribution to the committee. The award has been granted approximately once a year since then in the amount of $500.00.
