The Boston Chapter Committees are listed below with a summary of their responsibilities. To learn more or become involved in a committee please contact the Chair of that committee or any of the Board of Directors. The committee responsibilities for each of the Board Members is identified on the Directors Page on this site.

Programs Committee
This committee is primarily responsible for providing educational opportunities for the membership. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop the program theme for the chapter year

  • Identify speaking topics/speakers

  • Establish budget for program year

  • Arrange for/confirm speakers

  • Identify speaker's equipment needs/make arrangements before the meeting

  • Obtain speaker bios and provide them to the Newsletter Editor and theWeb Master for publication

  • Introduce speaker at meeting

Membership Committee
This committee is responsible for helping promote future growth of the chapter membership and maintaining existing members. Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing goals for the Membership Committee

  • Develop a program to help increase new chapter membership and retain existing members. This is done with the approval of the Board and with the assistance of a committee.

  • Develop the budget to support the membership campaign

  • Initiate contact with prospective members

  • Initiate contact with new members

  • Compare ARMA-HQ membership roster with chapter roster to ensure accurate member listings.

  • Greet members attending meetings via registration table

Newsletter Committee
This committee is responsible for publishing the bi-monthly Boston Bits. Committee chair serves as editor or co-editor of the newsletter. Responsibilities include:

  • Establish budget for program year

  • Develop list of articles for each issue of the newsletter

  • Write or find someone to write articles

  • Work closely with desktop publisher on the layout and editing of the articles.

  • Work closely with other committee chairs to ensure proper promotion of various events and activities

Sponsorships Committee
This committee is responsible for identifying and obtaining financial sponsors for various chapter activities, including monthly meetings, NRIMW, seminar/workshops, etc. Responsibilities include:

  • Establish budget for program year

  • Issue solicitation letter at beginning of year to potential sponsors

  • Issue letters to vendors seeking advertising in the newsletter.

  • Follow up on specific offers to sponsor events

  • If necessary, contact vendors/businesses about sponsorships throughout the year

  • Obtain commitment from sponsor for specific activity/dollar amount

  • Notify Treasurer of sponsorship so invoice can be issued

  • Notify Web Master of meeting sponsorships so publication can be made

  • Notify President of sponsorship so proper acknowledgment can be made

  • Identify and provide for any special needs of sponsor who is exhibiting at a meeting, workshop, or seminar

  • Maintain contact with sponsor prior to event

  • Issue letter of thanks to sponsor after event

Seminar Committee, when needed:
This committee is responsible for developing and putting on a chapter seminar. Typically this has been a one or two day event with speakers and a vendor show. The work involved will require a significant contribution from committee members as well as the Board. A brief list of activities includes:

  • Establish a budget

  • Identify and secure location for seminar

  • Develop program and secure speakers

  • Design/mail registration brochure

  • Establish registration system

  • Establish hospitality for speakers (copies of materials to be distributed, speaker intros, etc.)

  • Work with seminar site on logistics

  • Develop the Vendor show Etc.

Education Committee
This committee is responsible for focusing on charitable activities and other educational arenas to foster development of future RIM professionals and better public awareness. In addition, the Educational Director fosters interactions with allied associations, such as AIIM, NEA, and NAGARA. Responsibilites include:

  • Establishing budget for program year

  • Fund raising to support the Haas scholarship

  • Working with the respective parties to continue ARMA's support of the Horace Mann golf tournament

  • Coordinating with local universities to identify potential interns in RIM and sites for those interns. Publishing this information on Chapter's Newsletter

  • Serving as the liason between ARMA-HQ and the chapter members related to ISG activities

  • Working to increase member participation in the ISGs
