Management of government Records
A State Archivist's perspective.
Records management for state and municipal records take on another level of importance when they create public history. Come hear about the Statewide Records Retention Schedule and changes it has undergone since its first publication in 2003. You'll also learm about the Municipal Records Retention Schedule, which the State Archivist has become involved with since the retirement of the municipal records analyst this past August. There will be a discussion on public records and an overall discussion on records management as done by the Massachusetts State Archivist.
About the Speaker: Dr. John Warner
Jack Warner grew up in Westfield, Mass and received his M.A. in History and his Ph. D. in American History both from Boston College. He also holds a Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island. Jack taught History at Boston College, the Art Institute of Boston and Boston University, and was an Adjunct Professor of History, University of Massachusetts, Boston. He was appointed Archivist of the Commonwealth by Secretary of State William F. Galvin, 1996. He is also a member of the American Legion, Chief Petty Officers’ Association, National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators; New England Archivists, Society of American Archivists.
