Overview:
Records Managers have been actively learning
about WHAT types of technologies are out there to address the growing
demands for enterprise records and document management. And while there is a
growing awareness of WHAT is out there, most RM professionals are still at a
loss on HOW to make it all work and work together.
This will be a panel session moderated by Russ Edelman of Corridor
Consulting and consisting of: Rachael Heade of Microsoft, Doris Hambacher of
Accenture, and Colin Cahill of Bain & Company.
Biographies:
Rachael
Heade has been a member of the Corporate Records Management team at
Microsoft for over 7 years. As the Records Management Analysis Manager she
is the lead for the oversight and compliance with the Corporate Document
Retention Policy and for the maintenance and accuracy of Microsoft’s
Corporate Retention Schedule. Her daily activities include: providing
guidance on document retention and; the development and implementation of
departmental implementation guidelines; as well as the development of all
records management training and communication at the Enterprise-wide level.
An area which holds a lot of interest for her and her team is helping
Microsoft employees understand document retention/records management with
both a high regard for compliance and supporting long-term business needs.
The scope of her work is primarily US-centric; however; she
does conduct research on international retention compliance, and provides
guidance in this area to field offices and subsidiaries around the globe.
She also developed a formalized process for transitioning records and
information assets for use in mergers & acquisitions as well as
divestitures. She is currently responsible for implementation of this
process for all Microsoft mergers & acquisitions as well as divestitures.
Prior to Microsoft, Rachael was the Federal Grant Administrator for the City
of Everett, a small municipality 35 miles north of Seattle and spent
numerous years as a consultant to local, state and federal agencies in the
area of transportation funding, planning, and regulatory compliance.
When not working she enjoys dog sledding in Northern British Columbia,
reading, knitting, and the addictive Sudoku.
Doris
Hambacher, CRM, is the global lead of Accenture’s records management
program. Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services
and outsourcing company with 145,000 people in 49 countries.
Doris is responsible for guiding the development, implementation
and operations of the company’s records management strategy, policies,
procedures and systems. She’s spent the last year leading a team to build a
web-based records management system. The system is now deployed throughout
the Americas
and half of Europe with the remaining
countries coming live by May. Initial scope is the company’s largest set of
unstructured documents - contracts and project records.
Doris has previous
experience working as a records manager and archivist in both the public and
private sectors in Michigan
and Ohio.
She holds a masters in History with two undergraduate degrees in Geology
and Anthropology. It is the latter degree that has proven to be her most
valuable in working with a global team.
Colin
Cahill
has been
in the records & information management industry for 15+ years. In his
career, Colin has worked as a Corporate Records Manager, Project Manager,
Records Management Consultant, Manager of Conflicts & Records, Senior
