Overview: The threat of cyber related criminal activities and exploitation poses an increasing risk to networks, computers and sensitive data. The ability for organizations to implement effective security solutions and polices is essential for the protection of stored and transmitted information.

 

This session will provide an overview of cyber related threats, trends and attack methodologies and their impact on data security. This session will include discussions on the topics of incident response and evidence preservation, digital and network forensics, emerging technologies, law enforcement coordination and information sharing initiatives. The presentation of investigative case studies will be included to provide attendees with practical examples of information security incidents.
 

Biography:

Mr. Burrell serves as FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the multi-state northeast region of the United States, which is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. He previously served at FBI Headquarters as a Chief in the Cyber Division, where he was responsible for the coordination of all international cyber investigative operations. He completed his Ph.D. coursework in a computer and information science curriculum and holds a post-graduate Ed.S., M.S., and B.S. degrees in information technology and engineering disciplines. He serves as an adjunct professor for the instruction of graduate level computer science courses and the development of a graduate level digital forensic science curriculum. He maintains membership in national and international information security and forensics organizations and holds numerous professional certifications in related disciplines
